Orange ‘Gift of Life' survivor recognized February 6, 2008 Orange Leader, Feb. 5, 2008 For five years, Linda Garrett of Orange has been coming to the Julie Rogers "Gift of Life" Program for her annual mammogram, but in October 2006, her results were abnormal. Garrett was told she had stage 1 breast cancer following a mammogram at the UTMB mobile van site, sponsored by the Nelda C. and H.J. Lutcher Stark Foundation. She underwent a mastectomy in January 2007 but did not need radiation or chemotherapy because her cancer was caught early. Garrett was one of six men and women who were diagnosed in 2007 with prostate and breast cancer who were honored during a reception last week in Beaumont. « Back | The Newsroom »
