There was a special early birthday celebration at the university Wednesday: UTMB volunteer Tillie Demoratsky is turning 96 on Friday, Feb. 8. Hospital Administration, Volunteer Services and Tillie's HIM co-workers wanted to do more than cut a cake for this remarkable and inspiring woman, who has been donating her time and talent to UTMB since 1990 and has volunteered more than 6,600 hours. With the help of Galveston Councilman Juan Pena and a proclamation from the Mayor and City Council, her birthday is now officially "Tillie Demoratsky Day" in Galveston.
