GALVESTON, Texas - The 14th Annual Galveston County Health Fair starts at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at Academy Sports and Outdoors, 4523 Fort Crockett Blvd., Galveston. It ends at 1 p.m.

Organized by students and the office of community health services at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston, the health fair features free health screenings (blood pressure, body mass index, diabetes and cholesterol), children's activities, health and safety information, entertainment, door prizes and refreshments. More than 65 UTMB and community organizations are participating this year.

Island Transit is offering free round-trip transportation from Magnolia Homes, Oleander Homes, Wright Cuney Park, St. Vincent's House, Cedar Terrace, Holland House, Gulf Breeze Apartments and the Galveston Senior Community Center.
