GALVESTON, Texas -A student in the neonatal nurse practitioner program at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston has been appointed to a position as a military consultant to the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General.
Heather Dahmer, a captain in the Air Force, is completing her final semester at the School of Nursing and will graduate in April. For the next three years, she will serve as a consultant on neonatal intensive care nursing.
As a military consultant, Dahmer will assist the surgeon general's office. She will serve as a clinical subject matter expert, advise the Air Force Personnel Center about assignments, conduct medical incident investigations and assist in evaluations of research protocols.
