New research offers hope to depressed adolescents March 19, 2008 Medical Journal-Houston, March 2008 New research co-authored by Dr. Karen Dineen Wagner, vice chairwoman of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at UTMB, found that for adolescents with depression who haven't responded to an initial treatment with a SSRI, switching medications and adding cognitive behavioral therapy resulted in an improvement in symptoms compared to just changing medications.
