GALVESTON, Texas - Learning how to make the most out of life is the focus of the Circle of Life Women's Forum planned for Friday, April 18, at First United Methodist Church, 200 FM 517 West, in Dickinson. The event is from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
"This is a gathering of women of many ages, baby boomers and older women alike," said Tia McCurdy, community education specialist with the senior services office at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. The senior services office and the Sealy Center on Aging are co-sponsors of the forum.
Topics include:
- "Laughing Your Way Through Stress," by motivational speaker Marion Pietz.
- "Moving Toward Wellness," by Dr. Julie McKee, of UTMB's integrative medicine clinic.
- "It's Never Too Late to Change Your Dreams," by Dr. Nitza M. Cintrón, of UTMB's department of internal medicine.
- "Aging Skin ...What Can We Do?" by Dr. Rebecca Kelso, of UTMB's department of dermatology.
- "Finding Light in Loss," by the Rev. Helen Appelberg, of UTMB's Sealy Center on Aging.
- "Life is Too Short to Wear Anything Tight!" by Willa Decker, of the Institute for Health and Wellness.
Teri Wenglein-Callender will deliver opening remarks.
The registration deadline is April 11. The fee is $30, which includes a continental breakfast, lunch and door prizes.
