UTMB inventions win commercialization awards April 21, 2008 Galveston County Daily News, April 20, 2008 Two inventions by UTMB researchers won $50,000 awards from the Texas Ignition Fund, a UT System program. One award went to anesthesiology professor George Kramer who developed a "smart" IV pump to deliver precise amounts of fluids to trauma and burn victims. The other winner was a collaboration among technician Edward Kraft, instructor Stephen L. Hoskins and Dr. Perenlei Enkhbaatar, also members of the anesthesiology department. They developed a new technology meant to improve the delivery of inhaled drugs, such as those found in asthma inhalers.
