Galveston County Daily News, April 20, 2008 Dr. Luca Cicalese wrote a guest column about the lack of available organs for transplantation. Nearly 100,000 people in the United States are waiting for an organ but because too few people sign up to become donors, only about 8,000 deceased donors were available. Cicalese urged people to consider becoming a living donor.
