Galveston surgeons to help Iraqi woman injured by car bomb June 23, 2008 KHOU-TV, Channel 11 Houston, June 20, 2008 Ameera Shahmani was a security officer working for the United States in Iraq when she was injured in 2004 by a car bomb. She sustained severe injuries to her hands and sought permission to come to the United States where she hoped that American doctors could help her regain some use of her hands.
