Galveston County Daily News, July 9, 2008 ROUND ROCK - The University of Texas Medical Branch has been awarded a $239,613 grant by TG to help students compete academically in medical school. TG is a Round Rock-based public, nonprofit corporation that administers the Federal Family Education Loan Program. The grant to the university was part of the $5.6 million TG awarded nationally to 49 institutions and nonprofit organizations through its Public Benefit Grant Program to advance access to college, student retention and educational research. UTMB will use the TG grant for the Medical Careers Diversity Program that focuses on college retention and graduation, as well as increasing competitiveness of students traditionally underrepresented in medical school.
