Galveston County Daily News, July 23, 2008 UTMB researchers have received a five-year, $1.25 million grant to study how being hospitalized affects older patients. The grant from the National Institute on Aging will support studies of patients in the university's Acute Care for Elders unit. UTMB's Glenn Ostir is the principal investigator and is quoted in this article, saying, "We know that substantial numbers of people over 65 lose some ability to function after being hospitalized, and it's important that we find out why that happens."
