Galveston County Daily News, July 29, 2008 Heber Taylor, editor of the Galveston County Daily News, praises the course that Dr. David Callender, UTMB president, has set in the face of rough financial times. In the editorial, Taylor said UTMB would pursue new revenue sources, emphasize several clinical areas, and scrutinize vacancies more closely all the while positioning UTMB to be out of the red by 2010. Taylor concluded: "The medical branch, like all employers in Galveston County, is facing a challenging year. But it hasn't abandoned plans to continue investments in its own long-term growth. That's reassuring."
