Houston Business Journal, Aug. 1, 2008 Six medical clinics inside Wal-Mart stores in the Houston area recently reopened after adopting a telemedicine model.  The clinics are operated by My Healthy Access Inc., a non-emergency operation which is now partners with NuPhysicia, a company that was created last year using the technology and expertise developed at UTMB.  Dr. Glenn Hammack, assistant vice president and executive director of UTMB's Electronic Health Network is quoted in the article. "It's  like having the doctor in the room," says Hammack, president of NuPhysicia. "It's not a delegated kind of supervision, like with the nurse practitioners."And it's a model that Hammack says UTMB has used successfully for years in many settings, including worksite employee health programs.
