Galveston County Daily News, Aug. 3, 2008 UTMB could be earning $20 million more than its annual operating costs by 2017 if four strategies proposed by Dr. David Callender, president of UTMB, work to bring more paying patients and other streams.   From the article: "The medical branch now faces a deficit of $35 million. . . . I think we have increasing challenges - the economy and what's happening in health care aren't making it any easier to be successful," Callender said. "That said, I still think we have a good plan, and we're implementing that plan."
