Galveston County Daily News, Aug. 19, 2008 In his "It's Your Health" column, UTMB's Dr. Michael Warren gives advice on ensuring privacy during visits to a physician or hospital. He suggests that when you are in conference or being examined by your doctor that you insist that the door be kept shut and make sure everyone who has access to your case details is entitled to that information. Warren also says the law requires your signature for release of all medical records and no company or agency has a legal right to gain access to your records without your permission. "You have every right to expect that your medical affairs are conducted in an environment that honors your need for confidentiality."
