Galveston County Daily News, Aug. 23, 2008 A universal vaccine against several strains of influenza has passed its first phase of testing, said UTMB's Dr. Christine Turley. The results of the study will be presented at the Oct. 25-28 meeting of the Interscience Conference on Agents and Chemotherapy and the Infectious Diseases Society of America. The study was supported by a $9.5 million grant by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
