"Depend on your doctor's expertise when a prescription drug is involved. He or she can specify whether or not a generic drug can be substituted and will instruct the pharmacist accordingly. If your doctor does not indicate an option, ask for an explanation. There will be a good reason for your being asked to purchase the more expensive named brand."
