University regents have duty to fund UTMB October 27, 2008 Galveston County Daily News, Oct. 26, 2008 In a guest column, Bill Cherry, author of Galveston Memories, writes that prior commitments by state officials and UT regents need to be honored so that UTMB can be rebuilt. "As simple as the hundreds of homeowners who gave up their family homes and moved so that UTMB could grow to the gargantuan size that it is, to the taxpayers who have pumped in billions, to the Galveston community that was told over and over again throughout more than 100 years that UTMB could be depended on as a major employer, it doesn't seem to me that the state of Texas and the board of regents should get to scream King's-X. The commitments and promises made by those before today's regents need to be honored." « Back | The Newsroom »
