Galveston County Daily News, Nov. 2, 2008 Dolph Tillotson, Galveston County Daily News publisher, writes that Galveston County must establish a tax to help pay the cost of medical care for people who are uninsured or underinsured. "Without it, medical care for all the county's residents, from the wealthiest to the poorest, would be unacceptably diminished. There could be no greater blow to the overall effort to bring middle-class families back to Galveston Island in large numbers. ... Moreover, other communities and other medical facilities such as Texas City's Mainland Medical Center would be forced, like it or not, to accept many more indigent and uninsured patients," Tillotson wrote.
