Houston hospital provides hope for laid off UTMB employees Even in these tough economic times, there are companies hiring workers. St. Joseph Medical Center in downtown Houston is one of them and it held a job fair Wednesday, to fill approximately 100 positions. This job fair just happened to coincide with the layoffs of approximately 3,000 employees at UTMB. Job seekers arrived with resumes and were subject to on-site interviews as well. FOX 26 News spoke with one woman who had applied, interviewed and had been offered a position within the first hour of the event.
