GALVESTON, Texas - UTMB will reopen more than a dozen additional clinics in December, marking another significant milestone in recovery efforts following damage from Hurricane Ike three months earlier. Most of the clinics will be housed in the University Hospital Clinics building on the university's Galveston campus adjacent to the Emergency Room. These sites join an extensive network of mainland and Galveston Island clinic locations already in service.

Several of these clinics have been moved from their original storm-affected locations. On Nov. 24, the UTMB Obstetrics and Gynecology clinic reopened on the 3rd floor of the UHC and the geriatric clinic opened in Galveston at 700 W. University Blvd., on the first floor of the University Eye Center.

On Dec. 1, the Regional Maternal and Child Health Program clinic opened on the 7th floor of the UHC and the Stark Diabetes Endocrine Clinic reopened at 700 W. University Blvd., also on the first floor of the University Eye Center.

On Wednesday, Dec. 3, the following clinics reopened:

  • The UTMB Family Medicine Clinic, previously housed in the Primary Care Pavilion Suites 103-104, opened on the UHC 4th floor.
  • The Harborside Medical Group, previously in PCP Suites 109, 110 and 112, opened on the UHC 4th floor.
  • Dermatology reopened on the UHC 5th floor.

Additional clinics are scheduled to open later this month in the UHC.

The University Hospital Clinics building is accessible from Public Parking Garage 2 on Harborside Drive, and is located to the south of the UTMB Emergency Room. For more information or to make an appointment, call the UTMB Access Center at (409) 772-2222 or toll-free at (800) 917-8906.
