Galveston County Daily News, Dec. 11, 2008 Several death certificates were delayed due to the disruption of communications caused by Hurricane Ike, the relocation and evacuation of UTMB staff and a new electronic system that was introduced just before the storm. According to UTMB's Raul Reyes, the state recently mandated that doctors register electronically to handle death certificates online.
