Mourners honor Gilchrist Ike victim who stayed January 12, 2009 Galveston County Daily News, Jan. 12, 2009 Jennifer McLemore, who worked for more than 20 years at UTMB and who was one of the victims of Hurricane Ike, is remembered in this memorial. "At UTMB, she was known for remembering patients' birthdays and staying in touch long after they left the hospital. One former patient, Brad Rasberry, recalled that McLemore had cried with him after his successful last radiation treatment. At home in Gilchrist, she was 'Grandma Jan' - and not just to her large biological family. Neighbors said she often kept a houseful of kids, taking in those who had no place to call home. And she was known for something else: Every day she walked the beach, collecting seashells for her numerous craft projects." « Back | The Newsroom »
