Sally Robinson and Keith Bly write that there is a direct link between a mother and child in regard to dental health. "Pregnancy can cause shifts of acid in the mother's mouth that might cause the overgrowth of these cavity-causing germs. ... The mother's dental health should be addressed before the baby is born and continued with the mother and infant beginning when the infant is 6 months old."
