Galveston Rep. Craig Eiland proposed assigning specific dollar amounts of money from the state’s Rainy Day Fund to cover damage caused by Hurricane Ike and loss of revenue for some state institutions. Under the proposal, House Bill 6, UTMB would receive about $295 million for damage and about $169 million for lost revenue and business interruption.
