UTMB’s John Koloen is quoted in this article about how the fate of UTMB lies with the Legislature and with the University of Texas System Board of Regents. Outside the newly reopened UTMB hospital, Koloen said he remembers when several shrimp boats were strewn across the helicopter pad outside the facility and the emergency room was flooded with 6 feet of water. “It’s surprising how fast we’re recovering,” Koloen said. “We have come a long way in the last six months but still have a lot of work to do.”
