National Shriners leaders may vote this week to reopen the Galveston Shriners Hospitals for Children. This article mentions that UTMB’s Dr. David Herndon and Dr. Garland D. Anderson have been actively trying to convince national Shriners leaders of the need to reopen the Galveston facility. The vote would come at the insistence of area Shriners leaders who are upset that the facility was closed without consulting the Houston-Galveston Shriners organization.
