UTMB’s Dr. Victor Sierpina writes that people should be aware that stress from a natural disaster like Hurricane Ike can linger for months on end. “All of us on the island and in the surrounding communities affected by Hurricane Ike have continued ongoing stress, hard work, irregular hours, chaotic and disturbed jobs, sleep problems, uncertainty about insurance, etc.”
