GALVESTON, Texas - The second installment of "Unnatural Causes: Is Inequality Making Us Sick?" will be shown at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 8, in the Levin Hall Auditorium on the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. The award-winning series of seven documentaries explores how social conditions affect health.

"When the Bough Breaks," the second episode of the documentary series, focuses on the African Americans whose infant mortality rate is much higher in the United States than in many other countries and nearly twice as high as for white Americans. Even well-educated black women have birth outcomes worse than white women who haven't finished high school. The moderator is Laura Hermer of UTMB's Institute for the Medical Humanities.

For those who missed the first episode, "In Sickness and in Wealth" will be shown at 5:15 p.m. in Levin Hall on April 8.

"Unnatural Causes" continues on the UTMB campus through May 13. All sessions are free and open to the public.
