Dr. Steve Q. Quach has been named interim chief medical officer for the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston Health System effective April 1. Quach will serve as a member of the health system executive team. In addition, he will hold a faculty appointment as an assistant professor in the department of internal medicine.
As interim CMO, Quach will coordinate all institutional quality efforts and serve as the physician lead for the medical staff office as well as the departments of quality management, clinical data management and patient services. In this role, he will provide oversight and coordination for the health system's clinical activities.
Quach earned a Master of Arts degree in evolutionary biology and a Bachelor of Arts degree in biology and sociology from Rice University. He received his medical degree with high honors from UTMB, where he also completed his internship and residency in internal medicine. He subsequently served as chief resident for the department of internal medicine. Quach previously worked as an associate program director for the internal medicine residency program and director of the Daniels Clinic of Internal Medicine where residents train in outpatient medicine.
Since 2007, he has served as assistant chief medical officer to Dr. Peter M. Hoffmann, who accepted a position with Parkland Hospital in Dallas.
