UTMB's Dr. David Herndon is quoted in this news brief about the Blocker Burn Unit's ability to treat adults and children with serious burns. Because Shriners Hospitals for Children-Galveston is closed, the medical branch's burn unit will accept children for burn treatment. "We are equipped to care for children with a burn covering up to 30 percent of the body," Herndon said. "Beginning Wednesday, we will be ready to manage a burn of any size on any person."
