UTMB Drs. Victor Sierpina and Eric Nolen write in a guest column about the various challenges a physician faces in helping an overweight patient. "The disease burden on the individual patient spans all organ systems. Overweight/obesity leads to endocrinopathies and development of hormone dependent tumors, type II diabetes mellitus and cardiovascular disease.
