UTMB's Debbie Conley is quoted in this article about a new park and ride service from the mainland to Galveston Island. The medical branch likely would benefit most from the new route, said Conley, director of employee relations. More than a third of medical branch employees live on the mainland. The new service will not only help save gas but also reduce stress, Conley said. "After (Hurricane) Ike, the number of cars on the road has increased dramatically," she said. "This will allow someone to sit on a bus and relax and have a nice trip into work and home every afternoon."
