UTMB's Colleen Silva is quoted as saying that a smoking ban in Galveston would not run customers out of bars. She said that after smoking was banned in New York City establishments, city leaders polled bar owners to find out whether business was suffering. All said the ban had not kept customers away and admitted their bars were a more pleasant place to work.
