UTMB has been awarded a $21.5 million grant by the National Center for Research Resources of the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Allan Brasier is leading the Institute for Translational Sciences as director and principal investigator for the Clinical Translational Sciences Award. In the Galveston County Daily News version of the article, Brasier is quoted as saying: "This is really exciting - it's so important to get new translational research and new investigational teams up and running, and the CTSA will fund processes and core facilities that will be crucial to stimulating that development." KHOU-TV (Ch. 11, Houston) posted the Galveston newspaper's article on its Web site. And news about the funding also was posted by the Houston Chronicle.
