UTMB's Mike Shriner and Bob Brown are mentioned in this article about plans that the Galveston Housing Authority is considering to replace public housing that was damaged beyond repair by Hurricane Ike. Shriner said that UTMB is especially interested to see plans regarding the Magnolia Homes complex adjacent to UTMB. The old development was not necessarily a problem, but it was not well kept up, said Shriner. "We see this as an opportunity to raise the bar in terms of the quality of housing and development in the area," he said.
