UTMB Drs. Raghu Athre and Michael Briscoe are featured in this report about a little boy who got an ear implant thanks to the doctors who donated their time to help the boy. Athre is skilled in the latest implant techniques. "The old way was taking a rib graft and then craving the ear out of the rib. Both procedures have pluses and minuses, the advantage in doing this procedure is we don't have to take one of his ribs," said Athre. "Everyone came together and basically donated their services so that we could make this happen." Memorial Hermann Southeast Hospital donated its operating room and MEDPOR donated its ear implant. The boy's mother called Athre an angel.
