James Huffines, chairman of the UT System Board of Regents, expressed appreciation to the Galveston County Commissioners Court for its decision last week to raise taxes to fund indigent care for eligible county residents. “The residents of Galveston County should know the board of regents has not and will not waver from its formal resolutions, public statements and correspondence to constituents and legislators supporting this historic institution,” he wrote.
