Dr. Courtney M. Townsend Jr. was appointed holder of the Robertson-Poth Distinguished Chair in General Surgery. The UTMB Cancer Center is seeking volunteers to join the “Cruisin’ for a Cure” team, which is participating in the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Oct. 3. More than 1,000 students and family members attended Welcome Weekend. The cardiology division is recruiting participants for the Bay Area Heart Walk on Oct. 17 in Kemah. (Link unavailable.)
