Public invited to Q&A on cancer topics 

Cancer experts at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston will discuss the latest trends in cancer care and treatment in a special “talk to the experts” public forum at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, in Levin Hall, 11th and Market streets. The forum is part of UTMB Cancer Center Day.  

Individuals will have an opportunity to talk with cancer experts, gather educational information on cancer prevention and to meet with representatives of area support groups. 

Physicians participating in the question and answer session include Drs. Avi Markowitz, medical oncology, Robert Ullrich, radiation oncology basic research, Luca Cicalese, solid organ transplant and hepatobiliary surgery, Luyba Levine, gynecological oncology, Taylor Riall, surgical oncology and pancreatic specialist, Maurice Willis, medical oncology, Ivan Kessel, radiation oncology, and Susan McCammon, head and neck surgical oncology. 

Cancer Center Day activities begin at 10 a.m. with poster sessions on cancer research followed by a noon lecture by Dr. Ron A. DePinho of Harvard Medical School and the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston.
