D’Feet promotes women’s health March 7, 2006 Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 03/07/06 (no weblink available) Guest Column by Francois Vandaele: D’Feet Breast Cancer has just inaugurated its 2006 board of directors, a dedicated group of volunteers devoted to fighting breast cancer in Galveston County, along with honoring Dr. Alvin LeBlanc and Dr. Paul Fine. The D’Feet Organization provides the funding for an uninsured and underserved Galveston County woman age 40 to 64 who meets the financial qualifications to have a free screening mammogram and guarantees free follow-up care. D’Feet also works with the UTMB Nursing School and School of Allied Health to give the students a chance to greet the public and distribute breast health materials and teach breast self examination. The program promotes the University of Texas Medical Branch at its outreach efforts. Our new program for 2006 is to establish a library at UTMB, Mainland Center Hospital and in all the county libraries and health district locations specifically with books on breast health. These books would be available on loan to the patients. « Back | The Newsroom »
