Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 03/09/06 http://news.galvestondailynews.com/story.lasso?WCD=82697 The University of Texas Medical Branch has hired a consulting firm to take a thorough look at its operations. John D. Stobo, the medical center’s president, told a town hall meeting Tuesday that the examination would be aimed at transforming UTMB from a good institution to a great one. “Our goal is to grow to excellence, not shrink to mediocrity,” he said. Stobo told a lunchtime gathering of employees that a team from Chicago-based Navigant Consulting would arrive in Galveston in mid-April for a 10-week stay. “During this time, the team will be talking with people and reviewing documents throughout the institution to better understand our business operations and decision-making processes,” Stobo said.
