Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 03/15/06 http://news.galvestondailynews.com/story.lasso?WCD=82901 Gary Kesling, an expert in preventive medicine at the University of Texas Medical Branch, has been named chairman of the Combined Injury Prevention and Data Informatics and Research Committee for the Texas Governor’s Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Advisory Council. Kesling is a fellow in the American Academy of Experts in Traumatic Stress and is a member of the Expert Panel for Texas Youth Suicide Prevention. He’s a clinical assistant professor in the UTMB Department of Surgery. Kesling has been a member of the Texas Governor’s Emergency Medical Services and Trauma Advisory Council since 1999. His appointment lasts through 2008. The council has eight standing committees. Some of the issues Kesling’s committee will consider involve traffic safety, such as driving while intoxicated, driver fatigue and child safety.
