Island coaches join forces at tournament March 28, 2006 Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 03/28/06 http://news.galvestondailynews.com/story.lasso?ewcd=786292ccd70a46f1 The 19th annual Beachcomber Tennis Classic was huge success, despite a twilight-hour finish Friday evening. O’Connell Consolidated High School head coach Andrew Vogel gets a passing grade for his first go-around at running the tournament. Tors interim head coach Ronald Berryhill was the site director — a busy one at that — at the tournament headquarters, Ball High, which featured the boys’ “A” and “B” doubles and “A” mixed doubles. At the same time, Ball High tennis mom Barbara Sasser was there for the tournament’s entirety, directing all of the girls’ doubles action and eventually the other remaining tournament matches at the Galveston Health & Racquet Club. Kudos, too, go to the Racquet Club, the University of Texas Medical Branch, the Yacht Club and the city of Galveston Parks and Recreation Department for allowing O’Connell to use their top-notch facilities to once again play host to the popular event. « Back | The Newsroom »
