Health Data Management (Internet / Print) 02/08/06 http://www.healthdatamanagement.com/HDMSearchResultsDetails.cfm?articleId=12892 When emergency medicine specialist Oscar Boulting-house, M.D., goes to work at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, he doesn't go to the emergency department. Instead, he enters one of 11 telemedicine suites and begins his day seeing patients remotely via video teleconferencing links. "I find it appealing because it is an efficient environment where I am able to see a greater number of patients per unit of time," he says. "I also believe that this form of medical care has great promise and will make health care significantly easier to access." Boultinghouse is one of seven full-time telemedicine physicians working at the university's Electronic Health Network, the organization that manages telemedicine operations. He also serves as the network's chief medical officer and associate director.
