But the 25-year-old medical researcher is part of a slightly growing number of single, African-American professional women who are starting to look for love beyond their own color lines. From the latest interracial love stories to hit the silver screen such as “Something New” to myriad Web sites such as interracialsingles.net, some African-American women are beginning to cut down or completely throw out their lists of priorities for their “IBM” — ideal black man — and open themselves up to relationships with men of other races. “Race is like one of the last things I think about,” said McClain, who works at UTMB. “I’m up for happiness and financial stability.”
