Galveston County Daily News (Internet / Print) 01/19/06http://galvestondailynews.com/story.lasso?ewcd=c32ab2cdf5c1a506 The Galveston United Way will celebrate the end of a $1.5 million campaign with a luncheon next week. “I’m proud of the efforts of all of the volunteers,” said Victor Pierson, the campaign chairman. “I’m proud of the whole community.” The campaign apparently fell short of its $1.7 million goal. “At this point, it doesn’t look like we’ll make the goal,” said Kenna Bush, United Way’s executive director. “The campaign ends Friday, and we’re hoping to come out around $1.5 million.” Pierson noted that the University of Texas Medical Branch had exceeded its goal.
