Verizon has reported that they are having a major cellular outage. Users will not be able to use their services until the issues have been resolved.

Due to the high volume of users attempting to complete the Employee Demographic and Emergency Classification Form at the same time, the webforms system is experiencing slowness, access denied messages, or runtime errors for multiple users.  If you encounter this issue, please try again later.

UTMB alert notification system

  Attention:

AIS will be conducting a test of the UTMB alert notification system which will include a desktop takeover on 01/21/2026 at 11am. During this test, the pop-up below will display on your screen for a maximum time of 2 minutes unless acknowledged sooner.

Section of Sixth St. to be Partially Closed for Utility Work this Weekend

Starting this Saturday through Monday (1/17 – 1/19), traffic will be restricted on a section of Sixth St. between Harborside Dr. and The Strand, on the Galveston Campus.

The partial closure is for utility work in the area; the impacted roadway is directly east of the Jennie Sealy Hospital. One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction, and signage will be in place to direct motorists.

Avoid the area this holiday weekend if possible.

In the event of a disaster or emergency weather conditions, please refer to the following lines of communication for more information:

  • Call the UTMB main operator at (409) 772-1011.
  • Information is also available via the web at www.utmb.edu/alert. Should the UTMB web server go down, a second server is in place as a backup and will be available via UTMB's normal URL: www.utmb.edu.  Additionally, an informational site will be activated at www.utmbinfo.com.
  • See www.utmb.edu/emergency_plan for UTMB Health Emergency Operations Plans.
  • Monitor local television and radio stations including KPRC/950 AM, KTRH/740 AM and KIKK/96 FM in Houston.
